Description
shallow bowl with two larger cliffs at either end. Can be flown from WNW to WSW, best W. Take off is at the northern end of the bowl
Takeoff
take off for both top and middle launch is in front of the fence take care in strong winds not to be pulled into the fences frequently there will be members of public around, do not launch if they are behind you Be careful to check that there are no twigs or bushes in the lines, especially on the middle launch
Landing
If in doubt land on the beach, check the tide times to ensure there is beach available (almost always will be) Caution with top or middle landing in strong winds, at least one pilot has been dragged into and over the fence. If getting low on the middle of the bowl turn away from the cliff early as the ground is very uneven making slope landing difficult Do not land near members of the public.
Flight
The Gap from the southern end of the bowl can be crossed to the Star of Greece in the right conditions Heading north of the bowl is more tricky due to the lack of landing options which would result in ending up in the sea. It has been done by HG in the past but so far has not been attempted by PG If Gulls is working then Ochre will always be on too.
Hazards / Comments
Do not head north of launch without plenty of height and be especially careful on days where the wind is W or WSW. It is easy to get trapped around the corner which would result in a sea landing If getting low on the middle of the bowl turn away from the cliff early as the ground is very uneven making slope landing difficult Frequently there will be other aircraft going up and down the coast. Be aware of helicopters especially due to downwash Be aware of members of the public The site frequently has cliff falls so dont spend too much time close to the edge
